NORTH ARM COVE
North Arm Cove village lies on the northern shore of Port Stephens, a little north of Karuah.
If travelling north, the turnoff is on the right of the Pacific Highway, 7km north of the Karuah River bridge (about 2km past the second Karuah turnoff.) The village begins about 5 km from the highway. Take the right turn into Somerset Place/Carrington Road then left into North Arm Cove Road.
If heading south on the Pacific Highway, take either the first or second North Arm Cove turnoff on your left. (These come soon after the Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest turnoff). Immediately turn right onto Gooreengi Road. About 0.6km after crossing Bulga Creek take the left turn into Somerset Place/Carrington Road, then left into North Arm Cove Road.
Drive carefully along these roads because they are frequented by kangaroos and wallabies.
The layout of the Cove village was originally designed by Walter Burley Griffin who also designed Canberra. This layout was then modified by Henry F Halloran. Many of the planned streets are just trails through the bush where the land is zoned non-urban and not part of the village precinct.
Known for its large 'Non-Urban Land' component but also some of the best views of the Port Stephens Waterways as well. A quiet little fishing/holiday village on the Myall Coast.
